CAPS: Happy Birthday Greenie!

(Born on 10/12/1985 in Calgary, AB, Canada)

Mike Green is not only an NHL leading scoring defenseman, he does so much for the community of Washington as well.  He provides Capitals game tickets to underserved children, injured soldiers and active military and their families in the DC area through a program called “Green’s Gang.”

Green is a leader off the ice and partnered with Elliot Seagal of Elliot in the Morning on DC101 FM to create the “So Kids Can” program benefiting youth-focused nonprofit organizations like Pediatric Prosthetics, Inc.and KaBoom

Green was nominated in 2010 and 2011 for the NHL Foundation Player Award which is awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) player “who applies the core values of (ice) hockey—commitment, perseverance and teamwork—to enrich the lives of people in his community.”

Greenie even blogs (currently under construction) and tweets.  Check them out and wish #52 a Happy Birthday!
