Nationals well represented on MLB all-star team touring Taiwan

Four players from the 2011 Washington Nationals team highlight a roster of Major League players that will participate in a series of four exhibition games in early November.  According to an article on FocusTaiwan.tw, left-handed pitcher Ross Detwiler was added to a roster including 1B/OF Michael Morse and free agents catcher Ivan Rodriguez and of course, right-handed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang.

New York Mets pitcher Dillon Gee, Washington Nationals pitcher Ross Detwiler and Los Angeles Angels catcher Jeff Mathis were the latest players to be included to the Major League team.

New York Yankees infielder Robinson Cano and outfielder Curtis Granderson, Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera, and Washington Nationals catcher Ivan Rodriguez and first baseman Michael Morse will also appear in Taiwan.

Two Taiwanese major leaguers — Chien-Ming Wang of the Nationals and Hong-chih Kuo of the Los Angeles Dodgers — are expected to be part of an all-star team from Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) that will face the all-stars.

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig made comments about the series via press release:

“Major League Baseball is excited to take another important step in showcasing our great game to Taiwan, continuing our objective to bring baseball to fans throughout the world,” said commissioner Bud Selig in a statement. “We are pleased that many fine players will represent Major League Baseball when they meet the top talents of Taiwan.”
