Washington Nationals Dream Foundation to Host 2012 Green Up Day
Volunteers can contact the Dream Foundation to take part in the 4th annual event
WHAT: The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation will team up with Anacostia Riverkeeper and Rebuilding Together DC to host the fourth annual Green Up Day on Friday, August 17.
Volunteers from local businesses, the military, community groups and Nationals corporate partners will spend the morning rebuilding natural barriers around lily ponds at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and removing trash and debris from the banks of the Anacostia River.
Several Nationals sponsors are contributing to the effort; the project site will be stocked with Dasani water donated by Coca-Cola and Bagsters will be provided by Waste Management to remove the collected trash. Following the morning’s activities, volunteers will head to Nationals Park to enjoy lunch provided by Hard Times Cafe.
Each volunteer will receive a commemorative Green Up T-shirt as well as a ticket to Sunday’s Dream Foundation Day presented by Waste Management, when the Nationals host the New York Mets at 1:35 p.m. A select group of volunteers will also be recognized for their work on the field during the pregame ceremonies.
