NATS/P-NATS: Potomac Nationals Announce 35th Anniversary Plan

The single-A affiliate for the Washington Nationals play less than thirty miles from Nationals Park in Woodbridge, Virginia.   Pfitzner Stadium is a great place to see the young players before they reach “The Show” and well worth the drive.

The Potomac Nationals (“P-Nats”) released the list of promotions and giveaway items for the 2012 season. A few highlights are Danny Rosenbaum bobbleheads on August 24, a Presidential-themed bobblehead in the spirit of an election year (no date listed), Country Night on June 8 complete with a mechanical bull, Battle of the Sexes Tug-of-War (no date listed) and Titanic Night on April 15, when women and children will be allowed in the ballpark fifteen minutes before men. There will also be fireworks after every Saturday home game.

The Potomac Nationals started in 1978 as the Alexandria Dukes. The P-Nats will wear a new 35th anniversary logo on the home jerseys all season, which opens on April 6 in Lynchburg.

The Potomac Nationals have rolled out the plan for an elaborate celebration of their 35th Anniversary throughout the upcoming 2012 season. The P-Nats are thrilled to unveil a new 35th anniversary logo, which will be worn on the home jerseys all season. Past Carolina League Champions will be brought back to the Pfitz and the calendar will be chock full of commemorative giveaways.

Throughout the summer, fans that come through the gates at Pfitzner Stadium will take home fabulous promotional items: on August 24th, Nationals fans will receive a Danny Rosenbaum bobblehead; a Presidential-themed bobble in the spirit of the election year will thrill fans as well. Some of the other exciting giveaways in the 2012 season are: a mascot Piggy Bank on Friday, July 20; on August 10th, the team will wear a commemorative jersey voted on by the fans, and the jersey will be auctioned off at the end of the evening; Magnet Schedules throughout Opening weekend, April 13 to 15; A jersey-shaped lunch box on Saturday, July 21; a commemorative Alexandria Dukes hat on Friday, August 10; Team Photos on April 25 and August 25; and a TD Bank Coin Frenzy on Sunday, May 6, on which 500 dollars in coins will be spread onto the tarp on the infield for fans to scoop up.

The Nationals will also roll out the following new promotions: a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, when women and children will be allowed in the ballpark 15 minutes before men on April 15; the Washington Nationals’ Racing Presidents will visit Pfitzner Stadium on four dates; on June 8th, Country Night comes to Woodbridge with a mechanical bull; a Military Fly-Over on June 22; the Battle of the Sexes, featuring a 250-feet Tug-of-War; and The P-Nats are proud to bring back many of their nightly specials, highlighted by Saturday night Fireworks. Northern Virginia’s best pyrotechnic show will light up the sky above Pfitzner Stadium after every Saturday home game.

Kids can run the bases after each weekend game, and Family Sundays allow fans to have a catch on the field before the ballgame. On Wednesdays, Belly Busters is back: for 15 dollars, fans get all-you-can eat from Uncle Julios and other top restaurants.
