Maryland Basketball: Terps Welcome PG Anthony Cowan and SG Kevin Huerter (Press Release)

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Mark Turgeon and the University Maryland men’s basketball program welcomed guards Anthony Cowan (Bowie, Md.) and Kevin Huerter (Clifton Park, N.Y.) to the Terps for the class of 2016.

“We are excited to welcome a pair of very talented and skilled players to our basketball program,” Turgeon said. “Anthony and Kevin are student-athletes with strong character who possess a tremendous work ethic and will fit in very well with our team on and off the court.”

Maryland Basketball: Terps Land 4-Star SG Kevin Huerter

Kevin Huerter (6′ 5”-180) is the 12th ranked shooting guard in the nation and fourth best prospect out of the state of New York. He committed to Maryland today on Labor Day after a campus visit last Friday when the Maryland men’s soccer team upset #1 ranked UCLA.

According to 247sports, Huerter is the 64th best player in the country while ESPN ranks the sharp shooter at 41. The Terps beat out the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, and Virginia for the rights to Huerter after being heavily recruited by assistant coach Dustin Clark.
