WASHINGTON, D.C. –The Wizard Girls will host their Final Auditions Showcase on Monday, July 29. The event, presented by Ciroc, will provide fans with the chance to see the thirty Wizard Girls finalists compete for a spot on the team that will perform at Wizards games and events during the 2013-14 season. Fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalists as part of the text to vote promotion and the final team will be announced at the conclusion of the event. Online voting will begin on Sunday, July 21.

Food and drink specials as well as raffle prizes will be among the many activities available during the Showcase. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet the 2013-14 Wizard Girls squad after the team has been announced. Tickets are $10 in advance and will be $15 the night of. NATS: Auditions for 2013 Racing Presidents

The Washington Nationals once again invited fans with presidential aspirations to apply for the chance to become a Racing President. The team previously accepted applications and will hold auditions this Saturday, March 2 to fill the shoes of George, Tom, Abe, Teddy and newest member, Bill for the 2013 baseball season.

Note: This tryout is by invitation only and is not open to the public. Tryouts will take place regardless of weather conditions.

To be eligible, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Measure between 5’7” and 6’6” in height
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be able to run from center field to home plate in 40 seconds (approximately 200 yards)
  • Be able to wear a costume weighing approximately 45 lbs for several hours
  • Be available for at least 35 Nationals home games

Select candidates have been invited to Nationals Park on Saturday, March 9, 2013, where they will be required to perform a freestyle dance, run a 40-yard dash and run two Presidents Races from center field to the home dugout. They will also be interviewed by the Game Operations panel.

Developed in 2006, the Racing Presidents are 12-foot oversized mascots who compete during the fourth inning of every Nationals home game. The popular figures can be seen promoting the team and its community efforts at Nationals Park, the District and around the Washington region. The Racing Presidents usually visit the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll and Fourth of July celebrations. They also visited Niagara Falls and Toronto, Canada, and made their first trip to the West Coast to race at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Are you over the limit for American Idol or didn’t want to stand in line for days, but think that you can sing?

The Washington Nationals are now accepting applications for those talented fans interested in performing the National Anthem throughout the 2013 season at Nationals Park.

The first 50 anthem hopefuls to submit their resume (performance or otherwise) and a recent photo to anthem@nationals.com will be invited to audition live at Nationals Park on Saturday, March 9 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Anthem performers must meet the following prerequisites:
– The anthem should be no longer than 90 seconds
– The anthem must be performed in the traditional style; all auditions must be A cappella
– Groups and instrumentalists are invited to audition as well

WASHINGTON NATIONALS RACING PRESIDENTS
HEAD WEST ON FIRST EVER ROAD TRIP TO MOUNT RUSHMORE

Fans can follow “Bill and Teddy’s Executive Adventure” throughout
Presidents Day weekend

For the first time ever, the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents – George, Tom, Abe, Teddy and the newest member, Bill – will celebrate Presidents Day from America’s definitive presidential landmark when they visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.

To kick off the Bill-Teddy rivalry, the two Presidents will “race” from D.C. to Mount Rushmore beginning Friday, February 15 and join the other Racing Presidents at the monument on Presidents Day. Fans can cast their ballots for “Bill and Teddy’s Executive Adventure” on Twitter by using #VoteBill or #VoteTeddy to identify which of the two presidents they think should win. One randomly selected user of each hashtag will win a private mascot appearance with their respective Racing President. Official sweepstakes rules will be posted to the Nationals official Twitter account (@Nationals) when the contest launches on February 15.

All five of the Racing Presidents will celebrate Presidents Day at Mount Rushmore with the Black Hills, Badlands and Lakes Association. Bill and Teddy will be tweeting throughout their travels and fans are encouraged to track their adventures by following @NatsBigChief27 and @Teddy26Nats.

Due to the road trip, auditions for the 2013 Racing Presidents – which are traditionally held President’s Day weekend – will instead take place on Saturday, March 2. Fans with presidential aspirations have until Wednesday, February 20 to apply for the chance to fill the shoes of George, Tom, Abe, Teddy and Bill throughout the 2013 baseball season.

NATS/SUNS: Hagerstown Suns Holding Auditions for National Anthem Singers

The Hagerstown Suns will hold auditions for National Anthem singers on Saturday February 23, 2013. This spectacular event will be held at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, MD within the Food Court area. The Sing for the Suns National Anthem Auditions will be an opportunity for anyone in the community to show off their amazing talent for the chance to be featured during a Hagerstown Suns home game during the 2013 season.

The Registration process for the event will kick off at 8:30 a.m., with prior registration available at the Hagerstown Suns business office. Auditions will follow promptly starting at 9 a.m. with an emcee welcoming all the auditions. The event will operate until 1 p.m. in the afternoon or until the last contestant has had the opportunity to sing for the Suns. Each contestant will be viewed and evaluated by 3 qualified and musically enriched personalities as well as one soon to be named celebrity panelist.

Our judging panel will award the premier performing contestants with the chance to sing at 5 exciting and highly anticipated promotional events during the Suns 2013 season. Other contestants will have the possibility of being featured during the other 65 home games of the Suns season. Last year over 90 contestants took a shot, singing their way into the spotlight at Municipal Stadium the Suns anticipate a similar turnout this year.

“The sing for the Suns event is a fun way to get the community ready for the Suns season, said Suns General Manager Bill Farley. He went onto say, “We have a ton of great promotions planned for 2013 and we thank the Valley Mall for hosting the event.” The Hagerstown Suns have developed 12 reasons for Suns fans to be excited this season as they will feature a newly constructed kid’s fun zone, hold Red Out Sundays, an anti-bullying promotion to raise awareness, host the Cowboy Monkeys August 16th, and increase the number of firework shows this season.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Wizards will host auditions for the Wiz Kids dance team and the Power Pack group on Saturday, September 8, at Verizon Center.

The Wiz Kids dance team is looking for boys and girls ages 6-14 with lots of energy and a love for dance to perform at selected Wizards games. Auditions begin at 9 am with registration open at 8 am (interested applicants can also register online at www.washingtonwizards.com). The Power Pack will help entertain fans at Wizards games through various activities, including helping G-Wiz with on-court contests, delivering a free burrito to a hungry fan or by throwing a T-shirt from the court to a group of screaming fans. Auditions for the Power Pack begin at 1pm with check in starting at noon (interested applicants can also register online at www.washingtonwizards.com). Applicants must be 18 years old or older by October 1.

CAPS: Washington Capitals Red Rockers Auditions

The Washington Capitals will hold auditions for their 2012-13 Red Rockers spirit squad on June 24-25 at Verizon Center.

The Red Rockers are a high-energy spirit squad that assists in giveaways, promotions and in-game activities at Washington Capitals games. The squad works with the game entertainment staff to ensure that all Caps fans have the ultimate game experience and the squad’s members are ambassadors for the Capitals organization.

Auditions will begin on Sunday, June 24, at 11 a.m. with registration open at 10 a.m. at the administrative entrance of Verizon Center. Day 2 of the audition process will take place on Monday, June 25, at 5 p.m. Auditions will involve fitness tests, so participants are asked to dress appropriately for physical activity.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate, able to commit to a minimum of 25 regular-season Capitals home games, physically fit and outgoing, energetic and comfortable performing in front of crowds.

NATS: Happy “Racing” Presidents’ Day (with Photos)

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt had a big day in New York. The Washington Nationals’ Racing Presidents spent Presidents’ Day on Long Island for their traditional skate during the intermission at a New York Islanders game. Teddy tweeted a warmup photo before game. Apparently, they also got to meet Jack Hanna.

Glad to see that Teddy made it back from Barbados safe and sound. Washington Nationals Entertainment Manager Tom Davis announced that Teddy was on vacation, which was the reason Teddy missed out when the Nationals held auditions for the 2012 Racing Presidents on Saturday, February 18. “Teddy takes a vacation every year right around Presidents’ Day weekend.
