It still might not have soaked in yet that half of the NFC East teams are looking for new head coaches and that does not include the Washington Redskins. The NFC East champions actually have more important things on their mind: Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Defensive backs coach Perry Fewell has been working with an undermanned unit all year and that will likely continue on Sunday. The banged up secondary is just one aspect of the Redskins injury report heading into the playoffs.
Washington Redskins: Week 16 Injury Report
With the biggest game of the season approaching, a Saturday night matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles for the chance to represent the NFC East in the playoffs, the Washington Redskins are hoping for positive news on the injury front as the week progresses. Washington has shown that they are capable of playing competitive football, but Scot McCloughan has not had enough time to put together a team that can withstand so many injuries. With 14 players already on the season ending injured reserve list, the Redskins can ill afford losing any more bodies following the Bills game.
With the shortened week, Washington will hold walkthroughs on Tuesday and Friday that sandwich “two good days of practice” on Wednesday and Thursday.
Washington Redskins: Week 15 Injury Report
The Washington Redskins have been one of the harder hit franchise in the National Football League and in the midst of a NFC East playoff battle, they can ill afford to lose any more valuable pieces because they simply are not a good enough football team to overcome it.
Washington Redskins: Week 13 Injury Report
The Washington Redskins started the month of December in the driver seat of the NFC East, but with five games left in the season Trent Williams knows maintaining dominance is the key. When the Redskins host archrival Dallas on Monday, they will hope to be fairly healthy in a physical matchup in the trenches.
Washington Redskins: Week 12 Injury Report
With first place in the weakened NFC East on the line, the Washington Redskins are hoping to be completely healthy when they take on the New York Giants at FedEx Field.
Washington Redskins Game 10 Review: Turnovers, penalties, and missed tackles doom Skins against Panthers
CONTROVERSIAL PENALTY REVERSES PICK-6, MOMENTUM AS PANTHERS BLOW OUT SKINS
Even though this might not have been a “must-win” for the Washington Redskins against the undefeated Carolina Panthers, it would have been huge for the DC franchise to keep pace in the muddled NFC East. After an early shootout similar to the Saints game last year, Washington had a pick-6 interception get called back on a controversial and questionable personal foul penalty. Not only was the 14-point swing a big deal in the final score, but the Redskins had no swagger about them on their way to a mistake-filled blowout. The Redskins fell to a record of 4-6 after a 44-16 thrashing to the 10-0 Carolina Panthers.
One of the main keys for the Redskins on defense was to stop the running game and put pressure on Cam Newton in the passing game. In the first three plays they did exactly that by dropping Jonathan Stewart for no gain before forcing back-to-back incompletions from Newton thanks to pressure from Trent Murphy and Ryan Kerrigan. Unfortunately for Washington, on a third down for Kirk Cousins felt the pressure and delivered way to high for an open DeSean Jackson for an interception.
Washington Redskins: Week 11 Injury Report
Despite the considerable amount of starting caliber talent out for the season on injured reserve, the Washington Redskins are a relatively healthy team. Last week against the Saints, only middle linebacker Keenan Robinson missed the game due to injury. This week against the undefeated Carolina Panthers on the road, Washington hopes to have their full roster available.
