Washington Redskins Week 9 Preview: at New England Patriots

The Washington Redskins are coming off a nice long bye week to their toughest road test of the season: the mighty Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. The Redskins hope to build off of the miracle 31-30 comeback win vs. Tampa Bay two weeks ago, and will be healthier than they have been for most of the season. However, they are running into the juggernaut that is Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

Not much needs to be said about the Patriots that has not been repeated ad nauseam. New England is a dynasty, with four Super Bowl Rings in six appearances in the past 15 seasons. They are the very antithesis of the Redskins during that time, and are now 7-0 for the first time since their historic 16-0 regular season in 2007. [Read more…]

Washington Redskins Training Camp Report: Patriots Practice

The Redskins hosted the New England Patriots for the first time before they take the field Thursday night in the teams pre-season opener. First year head coach Jay Gruden stressed using the opportunity to practice against a quality opponent as a learning experience. The Redskins have become familiar with each other, to an extent the offense knows what to expect and the defenses’ “tendencies” and vice-versa. When you bring in 90 new players and coaches it forces players to read and react in more of a game-like situation which is telling for the coaches of both staffs’.

A few players shined against the new competition in Richmond. Bacarri Rambo had a few solid plays in coverage, however, that was never the concern with Rambo, his tackling is what will need to improve greatly in 2014 if he wishes to stick around. [Read more…]
