OSHIE LATEST CAPS PLAYER TO BE HONORED WITH WEEKLY AWARD
What a week it was; the Washington Capitals (24-6-2, 50 points) played four games (with four wins) and T.J. Oshie was outstanding in them all. Oshie led the league with five goals in those games and gathered up eight total points as the Caps took over first overall in the NHL standings.
Opening his week in Pittsburgh, Oshie scored two goals and assisted on another to help the Caps to their 4-1 victory. And while he was held off the scoresheet in the next game in Ottawa, he took off with another two goals and two assists — his third career four-point game — in a magnificent three-goal deficit comeback win in Tampa Bay. To put icing on the cake, Oshie added one more goal tally in the 7-3 stomping over the New York Rangers last night.
Oshie is sitting at 13-9-22 in 32 games this season and on pace for a 30-goal year in his first year as a Capital. He is the third Capitals player to earn a Star of the Week this season following Evgeny Kuznetsov (Oct 26.) and Braden Holtby (Nov. 3o).
