Congratulations to Washington Nationals current closer Tyler Clippard, named Major League Baseball Delivery Man of the Month for June.
Clippard converted each of his 10 save opportunities during the month of June while not allowing a run over 11.2 innings pitched. The 27-year-old right-hander permitted just two hits with six walks and 12 strikeouts over his 12 appearances, and did not factor in any decisions.
Clippard was the Nationals sole representative at the 2011 All-Star Game and got the win, giving the National League home field advantage. Unfortunately, Clippard was not selected for the 2012 NL All-Star Team. Matt Capps got the win for the NL in 2010 representing the Nationals and hopefully either Stephen Strasburg or Gio Gonzalez can continue that tradition.
